If you are planning a trip to Hedonism II, one of the first decisions you will need to make is whether to book directly through the resort or book with a group or event. The resort culture has long settled into a group model where most guests book with a group instead of directly through the resort.
We will be upfront: we are event providers, and of course we would love for you to come with us. But we also believe you should understand the pros and cons so you can make the choice that is best for you.
The short version? Booking directly may work for some people, especially experienced Hedo guests who already know exactly what they want. But for most people—especially first-timers or guests who want a more social, connected, and activity-filled experience—going with the right group can completely change the trip. Our goal is always to enhance the already great Hedo experience for guests from booking to travel home.
Booking Directly Through the Resort
Booking directly through the resort is simple. You choose your dates, pick your room category, and show up.
That can be appealing if you are looking for maximum independence, already know the resort well, or are specifically trying to avoid a structured group experience.
The potential downside is that you may arrive during a week when most guests are already part of one or more groups. This is the case most of the year as most weeks are filled with multiple group events, many that often take over nearly the entire resort. At Hedo, the group experience is a major part of the culture. Groups often have their own events, meetups, theme nights, chats, name necklaces, private parties, and social circles. Most groups provide name necklaces that identify people in their group, creating an exclusive vibe.
If you book outside the group, you may still have a great time—but you may also feel like you are watching the party from the outside.
In many cases, you must book through the group in order to attend that group’s private events. Booking directly through the resort does not automatically give you access.
Booking With a Group or Event
Booking with a group usually gives you an easier way to meet people before and during the trip. Many groups provide things like meet and greets, group chats, name necklaces, theme nights, pool parties, social events, and sometimes swag or special programming.
That alone can make a big difference.
Instead of arriving and hoping to meet people naturally, you already have a built-in community. You can connect before the trip through chat groups, private social media groups, message boards, and video meet-ups, recognize people when you arrive, and participate in events designed to help everyone feel included. For example, Concations events have a private Discord chat group for each event, run a video meet up and info session prior to the event, and have meet n' greets, speed dating, and social mixers early in the event and throughout the events.
For many people, this is the biggest advantage of going with a group: you are not just booking a room—you are joining an experience.
Are Groups More Expensive?
Sometimes yes. Sometimes no.
Some groups may offer rates that are similar to, or even slightly lower than, booking directly through the resort. Other groups may cost more.
The real question is not just “Which option is cheaper?” The better question is:
What am I getting for the price?
Some groups provide only a few basic extras, such as a pool party, a meet and greet, or a group necklace. That may still be worth it if the group is a good fit.
Other events, like Swinkation and Kinky Caribbean, are designed to be much more than a traditional group trip.
Our events cost more than simply booking a room, but they also include a much larger experience: a full week programming, workshops, presenters, social events, play parties, our own beach play tent and dungeon, group communication, concierge-level support, and activities from morning to night.
Many groups and events often arrange your transportation between the airport and the resort, helping to make your experience easier to book and hassle-free.
In other words, you are not just paying for the room. You are paying for the event experience surrounding the room that is more akin to a full conference or hotel takeover.

One of the biggest challenges at Hedo can be figuring out how to meet people, especially if it is your first time.
Groups make that easier.
A good group helps create connection before you even arrive. Group chats, apps, pre-trip introductions, name necklaces, and planned social events all make it easier to know who is who and where you fit in.
This can be especially helpful in a lifestyle, clothing-optional, kinky, or sexually open environment, where etiquette, consent, and comfort matter.
With a group, you are not walking into the unknown alone. You are walking into a community.
The Safety and Etiquette Advantage
Another important benefit of traveling with a well-run group is support.
Hedo is generally an amazing and welcoming place, but anytime you bring together a large number of adults in a highly social, party-oriented environment, questions or issues can occasionally come up.
A good group has leaders who are present, approachable, and able to help reinforce expectations around consent, etiquette, and respectful behavior.

When you book directly, you are mostly working through standard resort channels. That may be fine, but it can sometimes feel impersonal or more like a corporate "customer support" experience, which at times can feel frustrating.

So, Should You Book Direct or Go With a Group?
If you want the most basic version of the trip, already know the resort, prefer to be completely independent, and do not care about private group events, booking directly may be fine.
But if you want to meet people more easily, feel more connected, have access to extra programming, enjoy private events, receive more personal support, and experience Hedo as part of a curated community, booking with the right group is usually the better choice.
And if you are looking for more than just a few pool parties or a basic meet and greet, Swinkation may be exactly what you are looking for.
